Runners Legs
My friend is a runner. I could never get into it, and rather than do the mature thing, which would have been to congratulate her on her dedication, her commitment, her fantastic health. I did what any fifth grade boy would have done; I made myself feel better by razzing her about running and how her body would begin to break down prematurely because of her “unwillingness to just be comfortable with her own body”. I did this is to justify my sedentary lifestyle and to fulfill my secret agenda, which was to avoid sweating at all costs. So when she began to see and feel the early stages of varicose veins I felt a little prophetic, and yes, a little guilty.
It turns out you don’t have to be a lunch lady or a librarian to get varicose veins. They’re also hereditary and can be caused by damaged valves within the leg veins. She new this, which is one of the reasons she took up running, but alas, it was not enough to avoid the “like mother, like daughter” curse of varicose veins. Utah, however, has treatment centers that are on the cutting edge of treatment technology.
Luckily, varicose vein treatment has become significantly less invasive and much less expensive. Rather than having to strip the vein from the leg, which is what was done not too long ago, the veins can be treated within the leg. This speeds recovery time and limits post-procedure pain.
Varicose vein treatment can stop the debilitating aching and burning caused by varicose veins. Utah has one of the best treatment centers in the country at Davis Vein. Come in for a consultation, and let us help get you back out on the road.
